Fair Trade Month Picks from PACT

Most of us know that October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Did you know its Fair Trade Month, too? The goal is to raise awareness about why purchasing and using socially and commercially responsible fair trade products in place of commodities which may harm the environment, the economy and disadvantaged communities.

So get in the spirit with some new fair trade, organic cotton under garments for men and women from PACT, made with non genetically modified cotton plants grown and harvested in farmer-run coops. The yarns and fabrics are then dyed using non-toxic water-based dyes and then rinsed using water conserving recycling systems.

The resulting products are super soft undies, leggings, tees, baby onesies, long johns and socks. PACT is sold at select Whole Foods Market stores and on their website. As of this weekend, a sign on the sole Herald Square location (34th Street btwn 7th and 8th Ave) says the store will close in "7 Days."
