Founded by Clelia Angelon, Surya Brasil is a sustainable, cruelty-free beauty brand and lifestyle company. During a trip to the brand's pop-up at the seasonal Holiday Shops at the Winter Village at Bryant Park , I met Clelia, a svelte woman in her 60's with vibrant red hair and a magnetic personality to match, and her lovely daughter Wanda Malhotra, who runs the New York arm of the business. Most of us know that October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Did you know its Fair Trade Month, too?  The goal is to raise awareness about why purchasing and using socially and commercially responsible fair trade products in place of commodities which may harm the environment, the economy and disadvantaged communities. So get in the spirit with some new fair trade, organic cotton under garments for men and women from PACT , made with non genetically modified cotton plants grown and harvested in farmer-run coops. The yarns and fabrics are then dyed using non-toxic water-based dyes and then rinsed using water conserving recycling systems.
