Janelle Monae Rocks Saddle Shoes at Grammys, You Can Too

Janelle Monae's retro style is inspired and inspiring. Individuality is sexy. The pompadour coiffed Atlanta belle is a petite, androgynous cross between a young Lena Horne and Little Richard (with shades of Dorothy Dandridge and Prince). During her pumped-up Grammy performance, I took a good gander at Janelle's sock-hop-ready-footwear.

Seems she has a thing for saddle shoes, which makes me eager to wear the pair I recently picked up from a Miz Mooz press preview. The handmade leather "Hoola" shoe in a spring-ready beige/whiskey color combination is the New York brand's version of a bowling shoe, so Miz Mooz cleverly hosted its preview at the new Bowlmor bowling alley in Times Square.

Thanks to my new kicks, I'm ready to rock like Janelle and throw a strike.
