Steal Carrie Bradshaw's Look for Less!

Have you seen "Sex and the City 2" yet?  I saw the movie this afternoon and loved it!

Besides the unbreakable girl power bond between Carrie, Charlotte, Miranda, and Samantha, the fashion is what keeps us engaged and coming back for more, more, more.

So when I received a pitch from RedLight PR about AmiClubWear's budget-friendly styles inspired by"Sex and the City," I had to share.

Take this accordion-pleated-two-tier knock-off of the fab Halston Heritage dress Carrie flaunts in the flick for example.  The original dress (photo to the left) is $400 and Ami's is only $27.99!  The dress comes in coral (photo to the right), blue, and black.

I admit that most AmiClub models, um, look like naughty Barbie dolls. But the clothes are trendy and affordable and the website's tag line is "a positive place for girls," so I'll forgive the Fredrick's of Hollywood styling.

    No luck finding the items on the site, they have it advertised but when you click the link all you get is their main dress page. Do you have any idea what the names of some of the pieces are? Thanks so much for posting thins!

    I checked the website but couldn't locate the Sex and The City clothing inspired items - However, my cousin fell in love with all the shoes that are on clearance.

Conway Discount Clothing Chain Closing in New York City

(Tracy E. Hopkins) It's the end of a budget shopping era. Conway discount stores are closing in New York City . As of this weekend, a sign on the sole Herald Square location (34th Street btwn 7th and 8th Ave) says the store will close in "7 Days." Before I relocated to the Big Apple, I was introduced to the discount chain while on a bus trip from Baltimore.  I recall the first time I saw Conway's signature pink bags carried by hurried shoppers in midtown. DanceAfrica 2024 Returns to Brooklyn Academy of Music

The DanceAfrica Bazaar is one of my favorite annual street fairs. I love to watch folks show up and show out in their flyest Afrocentric garb and to shop for handmade beaded bracelets and earrings from the African vendors.  And when I'm fortunate enough to snag a ticket as I did this year courtesy of BAM, I enjoy watching the kinetic African dancers (this time the country featured is Cameroon) during the spirited and spirit-filled DanceAfrica performance at the Howard Gilman Opera House.   (Photos courtesy of BAM/Tony Turner) If you want to join in the fun, here's the weekend lineup that's truly for the culture.
