Cheap Spring Makeup from e.l.f.

Now that spring is here, Everything She Wants is looking for new beauty products and lighter, fresher mineral makeup.  So it’s only natural that I turned to e.l.f.* (eyes lips face), perhaps the bestselling makeup brand for bargain beauty-nistas. Previously, I’ve written about e.l.f.’s magical Essential Zit Zapper (it’s only a buck).  And since my pesky breakouts persist I’m ready to try out the limited edition Spring Collection Mineral Blemish Set ($5), which promises to heal and disguise blemishes with all-natural ingredients.  The two-piece set comes with a concealer brush and translucent powder with active acne fighting ingredients like sulfur, tea tree and willow bark to treat acne and prevent future breakouts. For spring makeup , e.l.f. has several limited-edition Spring Collection products perfect for Mother’s Day, prom, graduation and birthday gifts including: the 2-Piece Mineral Foundation SPF 15 set ($5) infused with vitamin E to condition an...

Beauty Tip: Perfect Red Lip from Youngblood Mineral Cosmetics

I've always wanted to rock a red lip, but never thought the bold shade complemented my skin tone. So I recently consulted with Johanna Sanchez, a makeup artist for Youngblood Cosmetics at Henri Bendel department store in New York City. She gave me my first red lip, which was initially shocking to my untrained eye.  But in the photo the red lipstick looks kinda hot, so I'll try it again during the holidays. Me with my Youngblood Vixen red lip. And I love Youngblood Mineral Cosmetics , which are free of chemicals, won't clog your pores and have a flawless finish. Here are Johanna's tips on how to achieve the perfect red lip: If you've never worn a red lip, what's the best way to transition to wearing red lipstick? Wearing a red lipstick definitely takes a minute for your eyes to adjust to, so I always like to recommend that my clients start by wearing a bright-colored gloss. A great season to do this in is the summer when fashion trends seem...

What's in My Fashion Week Beauty Survival Kit?

Fashion Week starts this week (Feb. 10 -17) and my fashion calendar is full.  So I need to literally put my best face forward while covering shows, presentations, and events.   My excellent Temptu airbrush makeup makeover. Last season, I visited one of several media lounges that offered makeup touch-ups. I got a great makeover during a previous Fashion Week (see photo of my Temptu Airbrush experience), so I had high hopes for this transformation. Although the makeup artist was friendly enough, let’s just say that bright blue eye shadow and pink lips don't match my cocoa complexion and I emerged looking more circus clown than glamazon.  This season, I’ve become more confident in my makeup application skills.  So I've decided to forgo any makeovers and take a D.I.Y. approach. Here’s what’s in my Fashion Week beauty survival bag : Bare Minerals. Bare Minerals Original SPF Foundation in Warm Deep ($25) : I love the flawless, natural-...
