Project Runway's Mondo Guerra's Limited-Edition Shoes for Crocs

Every fan of Project Runway knows that Mondo Guerra was robbed of his deserved victory on Season 8 of the fashion competition. And we rejoiced when he won the first season of Project Runway All-Stars . Currently, the uber-talented Mexican-American designer is a mentor on Project Runway: Under the Gunn and to celebrate the launch of his limited-edition shoe collection for Crocs, Mondo hosted a viewing party of the show at the new Crocs store in Manhattan's hectic Herald Square shopping district. Project Runway fan favorite and All-Stars winner, Mondo Guerra. The admittedly moody but lovable Mondo told us being a mentor is harder than being a contestant and he really goes to bat for his designers, whom he affectionately calls "my children." Mentees from the show (contender Blake Smith from Anya's team and quirky Isabelle Donola from Nick's team) along with past contestants (fellow Season 8 alum, Ivy Higa) attended the launch event to show their love.  Cu...

Cover the Grey with Generation Klean Gray Disappear

Image from MyLifetime.com You could go and see Liam Neeson in The Grey , an alternately exhilarating and perplexing tale about a group of Alaska Pipeline workers who survive a plane crash and then have to fend off a vindictive pack of wolves.  Or you could cover up your gray hair with Generation Klean's Gray Disappear ($15.99). Actually, the two aren't mutually exclusive, so you can do both. Although Hollywood twenty-somethings like Kelly Osbourne and "Project Runway All Stars" designer April Johnston ( see photo to the right ) think it's cool to dye their hair gray, I'm intent on covering my silver streaks. Gray Disappear conceals grays in seconds, and is helpful for touching up the pesky dye-resistant gray hair around my temples.  Plus, it's rich in antioxidants, vitamin E, Panthenol and natural waxes and free of parabens, sulfates and propylene glycol. Generation Klean Gray Disappear easily washes out with shampoo and comes in an attracti...

Project Runway’s Mondo Guerra Designs Piperlime Tees for World AIDS Day

Mondo Guerra  should have won season 8 of " Project Runway ." That's a fact. His vibrant designs -- typified by colorful separates and eye-catching accessories -- wowed both viewers and judges Heidi Klum, Michael Kors, and Nina Garcia. Okay, Nina and Michael weren't big fans of his finale polka dot tube dress, but Heidi and guest judge Jessica Simpson loved it. Mondo tee for Piperlime, $50 Instead, plain Jane hippie "chic" designer Gretchen Jones was awarded the season 8 title.  Although Mondo was totally robbed of the top honor, he emerged as the season's favorite designer and will hopefully become one of the world's biggest new designers.  He's already off to a good start. Mondo tee for Piperlime, $50 In celebration of  Word AIDs Day  (Dec. 1) and to help raise awareness, the HIV-positive designer has joined forces with Piperlime and created two limited-edition, bold graphic tees ($50 each), printed on Nation LTD t-shirts.  ...

Catching Up with Project Runway's Chloe Dao

Five years after she battled Santino Rice and Daniel Vosovic to win the coveted title of top designer on the second season of “ Project Runway ,” Chloe Dao is still building her fashion empire.  Since May 2008, the designing woman has been selling her popular Simply Chloe Dao line on QVC , and in 2009 she launched a line of slim laptop cases and luggage, Dao Chloe Dao for Nuo . The industrious designer recently took a break from her hectic schedule to chat with me, and I was delighted to find out the Houston, Texas resident is a lot funnier than she led on during her TV stint.   “I couldn’t compete with those gay guys from my season” she says. How did being on “Project Runway” change your life and your career? Chloe : My life is crazier than ever -- I have my store [Lot 8], QVC, and the Nuo line.  So my design repertoire has expanded. I travel every two weeks to New York and to Philly [QVC is based in West Chester Pennsylvania]. I have a fan base and I’m still...

Camille Still Wants to Be America's Next Top Model

" This is my signature walk, and it's going to make me famous ," proclaimed Camille McDonald during Cycle 2 of "America's Next Top Model." Tyra and her fashion accessories -- fab makeup artist/art director Jay Manuel and comical catwalk coach Miss J. Alexander -- tried to coax Camille to adjust her signature walk and head-strong attitude. Six years later, the Howard University graduate is still working her way to the top. "I had a strong identity," Camille told me over drinks at New York Fashion Week in February.  "I love and respect Tyra, but you have to make decisions of your own." Although Camille thinks she was cut out of the running to be America's next top model too early, she says she's glad she took her bow when she did. "The next show [was] an orgy with male models.  So that wasn't for me." By the way, I've seen Camille's misfit house-mate Shandi Sullivan (the main culprit in that hot...
