In September 2013 supermodels Iman and Naomi Campbell and former model agent Bethann Hardison wrote to the major fashion councils of New York, London, Milan and Paris about the lack of racial diversity in the fashion industry and specifically on Fashion Week runways. "The absence of people of color on the runways and photography reinforces to our young girls that they're not people enough, that they're not acceptable enough," Iman told CNN . "The diversity that we live in, the world that we live in, is not what is shown on the runway. That to me  is the concern. It's bigger issue at large than just about runway and models." Fashion Week is always a star-studded affair. During previous seasons, Everything She Wants has seen a smattering of celebs at various shows including actress Gabourey Sidibie in the front row at Christian Siriano; legendary hip-hop duo Salt-N-Pepa at Carmen Marc Valvo; and former "America's Next Top Model" staples Miss Jay Alexander (runway coach extraordinaire), Jay Manuel (art director and makeup maven) and Nigel Barker (noted fashion photographer), and a gaggle of "Real Housewives" pretty much everywhere. Everything She Wants has been pounding the pavement from one fall/holiday 2011 preview to the next.  And one of the trends I've noticed is that animal prints remain an evergreen fashion statement. While I'm not a fan of wearing the look from head-to-toe, a bold animal print shoe, bag, jacket, scarf or pair of gloves is a stylish way to incorporate the trend into your seasonal wardrobe. In my haste to escape the snow and slush, I almost missed a brush with glamour greatness. But thanks to a tourist snapping photos of a Macy's Herald Square window display, I slowed my rush hour roll down 34th Street long enough for a fashion history lesson. In honor of Black History Month, Macy's and Ebony Magazine have created a fabulous display celebrating the signature style of Ebony Fashion Fair founder Eunice W. Johnson .  During the '80s, I attended an Ebony Fashion Fair show with my mother.  The elaborate gowns and suits with architecturally stacked shoulder pads.  The dramatic hair and makeup.  The model sashays and twirls. For a young African-American woman, this traveling fashion show was better than Fashion week. The cheekbones.  The accent.  The rock star husband .  I've met a lot of famous folks. My latest celebrity meet-and-greet, however, was perhaps my most star-struck fashion world encounter.
