Comfort Shoes with Style: Share Your Vionic #SoleStory

When it comes to footwear, do you usually select fashion over function? Well, here's some good news. With shoes by Vionic with Orthaheel Technology, you can find trendy styles you like with built-in comfort.

This consumer brand offers sandals, shoes and slippers that feature an innovative, podiatrist-designed Orthaheel Technology (found in every pair of Vionic) that helps reduce over-pronation, and as a result improves foot function and relieves common problems like heel, knee, leg and back pain. Vionic is the only footwear recommended by both the American Podiatric Medical Association (APMA) and renowned integrative medical doctor, Andrew Weill.

To encourage people (women in particular) to wear shoes that not only look good but feel good, Vionic launched the #SoleStory campaign, where brand loyalists share why wearing stylish yet supportive shoes has enhanced their lives.

I received a pair of Vionic sandals (the Havana) that I plan to wear to work and play this summer in New York City.  But if you're also a fan of the creative comfort shoe, through June 15th you can share your #SoleStory on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.

The person with the most votes will be featured in Vionic's 2015 ad campaign! So don't delay, enter today.

Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater Graces Brooklyn Academy of Music, June 4-9, 2024

Dance is expression. Dance is spiritual. Dance is activism. Dance is life. I feel most alive when I am listening to music and dancing.  As a spectator and fan, some of my fondest moments of watching dance performances have been witnessing the dignity and grace of the Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater. Every time I see the Ailey company, I am inspired, moved, and grounded in the beauty and complexity of the African American experience.  Photo by Paul Kolnik For me, the highlight is always "Revelations," Mr. Ailey's three-part ode to his upbringing in the Black Baptist church. The three sections -- "Pilgrim of Sorrow"; "Take Me to the Water"; and "Move, Members, Move" -- tell the story of African American faith and persistence from slavery to freedom. Over the weekend,  I had the pleasure of taking an outdoor Community Workshop in downtown Brooklyn, where we learned some of the choreography for "Revelations." I beamed from ear to ear...
