Spring Clean Your Diet Giveaway with Dr. Praeger's!

As a semi-vegetarian (I eat seafood), I crave tasty meatless food options.  And Dr. Praeger's offers dozens of delish all-natural, GMO-free, kosher frozen foods, with several gluten-free items.  The wholesome brand's California Veggie Burgers are perhaps the best on the market and are loaded with chunks of real veggies.

Whether you're a fan of Dr. Praeger's foods or want to try them for the first time, Everything She Wants will give one lucky reader the chance to win one box each of Dr. Praeger's California Veggie Burgers, Chickenless Buffalo Nuggets, Sweet Potato Veggie Pancakes and Broccoli Veggie Pancakes (a retail value of $20-$25).

"Where you'll recognize all the ingredients."

  • California Veggie Burger - Unlike other “veggie burgers” this tasty burger is loaded with real carrots, onions, string beans, zucchini, peas, broccoli and spinach. Each all-natural burger is only 110 calories and contains no preservatives, cholesterol, saturated or trans fat.
  • Chickenless Buffalo Nuggets – So crisp and delicious, no one will believe they’re not deep fried. Serve with a side of Blue Cheese Dressing and there will be no second-guessing this decision! What’s more these nuggets only pack 160 calories per serving.
  • Veggie Pancakes – Creating a meal plan that’s full of whole grains, fruits and vegetables and limits high-fat and high-sodium foods is a great way to refresh your diet. Dr. Praeger’s Sensible Foods veggie pancakes are free of saturated and trans fat, and also low in sodium, plus they taste great too!

Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater Comes to Brooklyn, June 5-8

Attending a performance of the Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater is always a highlight of my arts and culture calendar. An engagement with this awe-inspiring and genre-bending dance company is even better when they perform close to home at the Brooklyn Academy of Music.                                                                                                                                         Photo: Danica Paulos Ailey’s long-standing relationship with BAM began in 1969 when the trailblazing choreographer established The Ailey School in Brooklyn and presented his company’s...

Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater Graces Brooklyn Academy of Music, June 4-9, 2024

Dance is expression. Dance is spiritual. Dance is activism. Dance is life. I feel most alive when I am listening to music and dancing.  As a spectator and fan, some of my fondest moments of watching dance performances have been witnessing the dignity and grace of the Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater. Every time I see the Ailey company, I am inspired, moved, and grounded in the beauty and complexity of the African American experience.  Photo by Paul Kolnik For me, the highlight is always "Revelations," Mr. Ailey's three-part ode to his upbringing in the Black Baptist church. The three sections -- "Pilgrim of Sorrow"; "Take Me to the Water"; and "Move, Members, Move" -- tell the story of African American faith and persistence from slavery to freedom. Over the weekend,  I had the pleasure of taking an outdoor Community Workshop in downtown Brooklyn, where we learned some of the choreography for "Revelations." I beamed from ear to ear...

DanceAfrica 2024 Returns to Brooklyn Academy of Music

The DanceAfrica Bazaar is one of my favorite annual street fairs. I love to watch folks show up and show out in their flyest Afrocentric garb and to shop for handmade beaded bracelets and earrings from the African vendors.  And when I'm fortunate enough to snag a ticket as I did this year courtesy of BAM, I enjoy watching the kinetic African dancers (this time the country featured is Cameroon) during the spirited and spirit-filled DanceAfrica performance at the Howard Gilman Opera House.   (Photos courtesy of BAM/Tony Turner) If you want to join in the fun, here's the weekend lineup that's truly for the culture.
