When she was unable to find an outlet to sell her designer wedding gown, self-proclaimed "sucker for weddings" Josie Daga founded the site in 2004.  PreOwnedWeddingDresses.com connects buyers and sellers of new, sample and used designer wedding gowns, many for less than $500.

With over 9,000 wedding dresses in stock by more than 300 different designers including Vera Wang, Monique Lhuillier, Marchesa and Oscar de la Renta, the site helps impending brides find their dream dresses. For a one-time, $25 flat fee past brides can also list and resell their dresses.

Brides can browse by categories like: Dresses We Love, Most Viewed, Best Deals or New Listings of the Week. It's also easy to pick your perfect dress by searching by designer, size, price, silhouette and location.

Here’s a testimonial from happy bargain bride, Lee-Ann L. (February, 2012):

“I got a brand new with tags Enzoani dress for $400.  I am still in awe.  The dress is amazing and has never been worn.  A bride had ordered it from the bridal shop that sold it to me and had cancelled the order, so they wanted to get rid of it.  It’s gorgeous and it fits like a glove.  PreOwnedWeddingDresses.com exceeded my expectations!”

As of this weekend, a sign on the sole Herald Square location (34th Street btwn 7th and 8th Ave) says the store will close in "7 Days." Before I relocated to the Big Apple, I was introduced to the discount chain while on a bus trip from Baltimore.  I recall the first time I saw Conway's signature pink bags carried by hurried shoppers in midtown. And Miss Foster, the trip organizer and a bargain hunter from way back, took me to the store for the first time. Conway store in the Fulton Mall./Tracy E. Hopkins When I moved here in 1994, my love affair with Conway continued.  I furnished my first apartment with discount knick-knacks and home goods from the store.  And much to my chagrin, in hindsight, I curated most of my wardrobe for my first full-time job from the long-shuttered 42nd Street and Third Avenue store. One regretful ensemble: Lime green and
