At-Home Pedicure and Manicure Made Easy with Emjoi Micro-Pedi

The summer heat can be harsh on your feet. To make our open-toes more presentable, we often spend our time and hard-earned blogging money getting a pedicure. But thanks to Emjoi Micro-Pedi ( $39.95, available at Sally Beauty and Drugstore.com), we can slough off dead, dry skin and buff away calluses in the privacy of our own abode. Everything She Wants gave the Emjoi Micro-Pedi a whirl and we were thrilled with how gentle and easy it was to use. Just add two AA batteries and let the exfoliation begin. Within seconds, our rough soles felt and looked noticeably smoother.  Plus, this podiatrist-approved device is safer and more effective than dangerous metal scrapers, which use blades to cut the skin. For a complete home-spa experience, Emjoi now offers two new attachment kits--the Micro-Pedi Precision Kit with precision cone rollers to remove hard-to-reach calloused skin between and under the toes ( yuck ) and the Micro-Pedi Manicure Kit with five attachments to smooth, shape

Huma Abedin, Fashion Icon or Good Wife Martyr?

Say what you will about perverted New York City mayoral candidate, Anthony Weiner, but his faithful-to-a-fault wife Huma Abedin is one lady we'd love to go shopping with.  Like First Lady Michelle Obama, Huma has a classic, chic style and a flair for bold patterns and bright colors. But why is this lovely lady, who worked closely with Hilary Clinton during her candidacy for President and at the U.S. State Department, still standing by her sexting-crazed man? In an editorial she wrote for Harper's Bazaar , Huma says: " New Yorkers will have to decide for themselves whether to give [Anthony] a second chance. I had to make the same decision for myself, for my son, for our family. And I know in my heart I made the right one ." To be honest, even if she's sure, we're not so sure the admittedly private Huma should continue to subject herself to the embarrassment and public ridicule that come along with being this troubled politician's good wife. We cons

Bargain Shopping for LOFT Fashions at the Goodwill

Have you been to a Goodwill lately?   We have . And to our surprise, we discovered racks and racks of brand new dresses, pants and tops from LOFT! Apparently, top retailers (in addition to LOFT, we also spotted new goods from Target, Ann Taylor and Ikea) donate current season merchandise to the charitable store. We even found the coveted pair of purple and copper linen pants with a paisley print that weren't available in our size at several LOFT stores, and for $6 less than the current sale price. Now that's what we call good shopping karma ! So if you're a LOFT girl and you live in New York City or plan to visit soon, make a beeline for the Goodwill stores in Chelsea (W. 25th Street near Sixth Avenue) and on the Upper East Side (E. 89th Street and Second Avenue). Here's a look at the cool LOFT-for-less separates Everything She Wants scooped up (accessories not included), all for under $100. All pants pictured were $19.99 each and the tops w

The Limited Turns 50 and Partners with Dress for Success

Remember The Limited ?  That was our fave store in the '80s. We can still see the oversized white silk blouse we wore with a cropped black Bolero jacket ( don't judge, it was the '80s ), and the leather Forenza bomber jacket with patches that we hope is still hanging in our parent's closet somewhere. Well, The Limited is kicking off its 50th anniversary with a special campaign to support Dress for Success , a nonprofit organization with affiliate offices in more than 125 cities throughout the U.S. that offers professional apparel, a network of support and career development tools to women who are entering or re-entering the workforce. Here's how Everything She Wants ' readers can help, too.   The Limited invites its customers to share success stories, life lessons and great moments in their lives--whether it's personal or professional--with others who can learn from their wisdom. Submissions are being accepted at thelimited.com/50th . The company w

Fashion News: American Men Don't Like Women in Wedges!

Because we favor footwear that's functional and comfortable, flats and wedges are my go-to shoe styles of the summer. But apparently American men don't like it when women wear flats and wedges. We don't care what these guys say; we still like wedges! According to new research from CouponCodes4u.com , the more than 2,000 adult American guys polled find wedges to be the least attractive style of shoe, followed by Uggs, Crocs and platforms. Flip-flops, moccasins and Mary Janes also made the list, as did ballet shoes, kitten heels and sneakers.   Well, now that nearly our entire shoe closet has been deemed unacceptable ( thankfully, gladiator sandals weren't on the list) , we can either chock this up as unsolicited opinion or cave in and purchase a pair of heels.  What do you think of this footwear style survey?
