Professional Makeup Tips from ARTISTRY

ARTISTRY *, the prestige skincare and makeup brand of Amway, is awesome.  We adore  Artistry's Light Up Lip Gloss ,  available in several shimmery, neutral shades.  And with the appointment of Rick DiCecca as its Global Makeup Artist, Artistry just became even more luxe.    Me with Artistry Global Makeup Artist, Rick DiCecca. During Fashion Week, Everything She Wants luxuriated ( as Wendy Williams would say ) in the Artistry Beauty Lounge, where we received a skincare analysis (a tailored product regimen based our analysis just arrived in the mail...we’ll start with the Artistry Essentials Balancing Cleanser, Balancing Toner and Balancing Lotion), and we were pampered with a soothing mini-facial (thanks, Eden) and an expert makeover by Mr. DiCecca. A great mascara tip the veteran makeup artist -- who has worked with Estee Lauder and primped a host of celebs including Heidi Klum, Cindy Crawford and Iman – shared is to first flutter the mascara on the top of your la

Natural Hair Care Tips to Promote Healthy Hair Growth

Everything She Wants is all about healthy hair, and we particularly encourage women of color to embrace their natural curls and coils.  So we enlisted a few natural hair care tips that promote hair growth from Natasha Gaspard, creator of Mane Moves TV and co-host of the web series, Make Me A Naturalista . Naturalista, Natasha Gaspard. "Hair grows naturally at a specific rate that differs from person to person based on genetics and other factors," explains Natasha.  "The best way to realize that growth is to preserve the hair as much as possible.  What you want to do is to make sure your hair doesn't break from the ends." Here are Natasha's tips on what you can do to give your natural strands a chance: 1. Don't over cleanse your hair. Natural hair is dry..that's a simple fact.  The more you wash it, the more you strip away the essential oils it needs to stay soft and pliable. I wash my hair every 3-4 weeks!  If there is a lot of

Natural Beauty Product Pick: Benefits of African Black Soap

You've seen it in health food stores and speciality markets, but what exactly is African Black Soap?  And what are its benefits?   Traditionally made by hand in Africa, most black soaps are formulated with various essential oils -- like coconut oil, palm oil, palm kernel oil, shea butter and cocoa butter.  They also contain ashes from different plants, like shea tree bark, banana trees, cocoa pods and plantain leaves. Everything She Wants loves natural skin care products and swears by Alaffia's Authentic African Black Soap with Peppermint ($13.99, 32 oz.), available at Whole Body by Whole Foods Market .  The peppermint oil is invigorating, and the soothing liquid soap exfoliates and keeps our skin feeling fresh and smooth.  You can even use the all-in-one cleanser to shave, shampoo and wash your face. African Black Soap is also known to reduce acne outbreaks by reducing oiliness and killing bacteria that causes acne. It can also reduce the appearance of acne scars.

During previous seasons, Everything She Wants has seen a smattering of celebs at various shows including actress Gabourey Sidibie in the front row at Christian Siriano; legendary hip-hop duo Salt-N-Pepa at Carmen Marc Valvo; and former "America's Next Top Model" staples Miss Jay Alexander (runway coach extraordinaire), Jay Manuel (art director and makeup maven) and Nigel Barker (noted fashion photographer), and a gaggle of "Real Housewives" pretty much everywhere. Image courtesy of Iman. And of course, there was the time we got a glimpse of Anna Wintour's signature bob as she whizzed into the Tents at Bryant Park. But the stars were literally aligned in one place for the Spring/Summer 2013 season, where we spotted several fashion industry A-listers at the launch of supermodel Iman's travel website, Destination IMAN .  Looking absolutely fabulous and flawless in a form-fitting, black leather cut-out
