Karina Smirnoff Dances With JCPenney in New ActiveWear Lines

You know when  Inside the Actors Studio host James Lipton asks actors what profession other than their own would they like to attempt?  Well, if I hadn't pursued writing as a career, I would have studied dance.  Dance pro Karina Smirnoff I think dance is the purest form of artistic expression. And it's great that TV shows like So You Think You Can Dance  and Dancing with the Stars  have put a spotlight on dance and made it so popular. At a recent JCPenney New Year, New You fitness event I had the chance of a lifetime to take an exclusive dance class led by DWTS-pro Karina Smirnoff.   During the energetic dance-cardio class, Karina and participants were dressed in the newest styles from  JCPenney's  Xersion  and  City Streets  Activewear lines. We were also gifted JCPenney's  Bella High Power Juice Extractor  and  Magic Bullet Blender . "I'm excited to partner with JCPenney to showcase ways to feel great from the inside out," says Karina.

Sale Alert: Get 50 Percent Off All Sale Items at H&M Stores

Forget the after-Christmas sales.   H&M is having the sale of the season right now. All sale merchandise is an additional 50 percent off, so they're practically giving clothing and accessories away!  We've visited several H&M stores in New York City and each one has a slightly different selection. You will have to do some picking and rummaging through messy racks and piles, but that's the way Everything She Wants likes to shop. So far, we found the best sale booty at the flagship store on Fifth Avenue and 51st Street , where sale jewelry and accessories were "Buy One, Get One Free."  There we purchased four scarves that were marked down to $5 each and four stud earring sets marked down to only $1 each--all for a whopping $12. Then we visited the H&M in Soho (on Broadway closer to Prince Street), and scooped up a navy pinstripe jacket we've had our eye on since it went on sale around Christmastime for an incredibly low $5 and a little

5 Easy Fitness Tips for the New Year, New You

It’s not too late to honor your New Year’s resolution to get in shape.  In fact, meeting your fitness goals might be easier than you think. Here are five simple tips from Danielle Harrison, Fitness Curator at New York City’s Ink48, A Kimpton Hotel , to help you slim down and tone up in 2014. Ink48 Fitness Curator, Danielle Harrison 1. PLAN OUT YOUR MEALS. Don’t wait until your stomach is growling to decide what to make for dinner. It is important and easier for your diet to plan out your meals for the week or for each day in advance.  If you have to think about what to eat, where to get it, or how long it will take to make, you will tend to just go with the easiest option, which is most likely the unhealthiest. Plan ahead!  2. DON’T OVER DO IT. Don't re-boot your fitness routine by going to the gym for three hours in one day, trying to make up for everything you have missed. Start out by working out for an hour whether it’s by taking a class or using exercise equipment.

"12 Years a Slave" Actress Lupita Nyong’o, A Stunning Beauty

Lupita Nyong'o is beautiful. Did you see her in that Ralph Lauren scarlet dress and cape ensemble at the 2014 Golden Globe Awards? Flawless. And her brave performance as Patsey in the award-winning 12 Years a Slave is haunting. As an African-American woman, I identified most closely with that character and thought, "That could have been me." There but for the grace of God, go I. So I look forward to seeing more of this captivating Kenyan actress and blossoming fashion icon. Since you are probably also under Lupita's spell, here are a few gorgeous photos from her cover and spread in the February issue of  Dazed & Confused Magazine (surely an Essence cover can't be far behind). New Year Fashion Statement: Pantone Color 2014, Radiant Orchid

Make a bold fashion statement in 2014 wearing Pantone's Color of the Year, Radiant Orchid, a captivating shade of purple. We picked up an eye-catching infinity scarf from LOFT in the enigmatic color, and even found a mini Christmas tree in the regal shade. Pantone, a global color authority, describes Radiant Orchid as "an enchanting harmony of fuchsia, purple and pink undertones. Radiant Orchid inspires confidence and emanates great joy, love and health." It's easy to incorporate the alluring color into your wardrobe with a versatile, sheer panel tee like this one ( see above photo ) from NYDJ 's spring 2014 collection. And wearing lipstick, blush and nail polish in Radiant Orchid flatters most skin tones and hair and eye colors. Have you gone gaga for Radiant Orchid, yet?  If you have and care to share, email a digital photo of yourself wearing the vibrant color to popandshop@gmail.com and I'll share it on Everything She Wants .
